I've been thinking about joining a Gold's Gym (the one on UBC). I hear they have really nice equipment, and are great places to work out. But that they lack other facilities their competitors have like Bally's (basketball courts, swimming pool, indoor tennis courts).
I've also heard Gold's has high membership fees with long contracts like Bally's, but has a good culture of body building. I'm not really looking to get ripped though, just to stay fit. Any gym that's not packed with people, with a decent amount of equipment would work. Health club, athletic club, body building gym - whatever. I don't care about the gym's image/atmosphere as much as how crowded it is and the long-term contracts. So anyone here join Gold's or hear about it? Is it worth it to join, or should I look at other gyms? ![]() |

IMO, Goldsgym is full or roid monkeys walking around like they own the place. I have never seen a Bally's in Canada. There is a Sports place in Richmond that uses an areobics room as an half court basketball area...lol
That is as close you are going to get to a Basketball court with all the amenities. I would recommend going to Bonsor Recreation Centre in BBY. There are basketball courts, a weightroom, and squash courts. I saw Terrell Owens there last month shooting hoops before he was mobbed by hoot rats in the neighbourhood..haha |
